Who these rules protect

Tangled is for people aged 18 and over. These guidelines apply to profiles, conversations, groups and Tangled events. Everyone deserves respectful treatment, including people who report concerns, are reported, or appeal a decision.

Respect boundaries and consent

No harassment, bullying, hate speech, stalking, threats, grooming, sexual solicitation, explicit sexual content or exploitation. Stop unwanted advances and contact when someone declines or blocks you. Do not pressure people into sexual activity, payments or sharing private information, or use another account or person to bypass their boundaries.

Protect privacy; do not retaliate

Do not expose or circulate someone’s private identifying information to target, intimidate or endanger them (doxxing), share intimate material without consent, or organise targeted harassment or rumour campaigns. Do not retaliate against reporters, witnesses or people appealing decisions. Confidential, good-faith evidence sharing with support, legal advisers or appropriate authorities is allowed; share only what is relevant.

Be honest; do not manipulate

No scams, fraud, impersonation, spam or unauthorised commercial solicitation. Do not knowingly fabricate evidence, submit malicious reports or coordinate reports to manipulate moderation. Multiple reports are not proof by themselves. A good-faith report that cannot be substantiated is not automatically a false report.

One active personal account

Use one active personal account unless Tangled authorises an exception. Never use additional accounts to evade restrictions, impersonate others, bypass a block or manipulate reports, bookings or promotions. Contact support about accidental duplicates or account recovery; those situations do not automatically warrant a ban. A suspected account link alone does not prove shared ownership or misconduct.

What is not, by itself, a violation

Ordinary disagreements, rejection, social awkwardness, consensual offers to pay, or moving a conversation to Telegram or another service are not by themselves grounds for a ban. Deception, coercion, threats and other prohibited behaviour remain subject to review.

Limits of off-platform review

Tangled does not monitor private activity on other services. We may assess information provided about off-platform conduct where it directly relates to Tangled interactions or events, or presents a credible risk to member safety. We cannot promise a full investigation, identify an anonymous source, resolve private disputes or remove content from another service. For immediate danger contact local emergency services; report off-platform content to the service hosting it.

How to report a concern

Use the in-app Report tool or contact tangled@tangledsocial.com with the subject Safety Report. Tell us what happened, roughly when and where, and whether you experienced it firsthand or heard it from someone else. Include relevant message or event references if available. Screenshots are optional and are not required to report. Support may request relevant evidence by email; omit unrelated private information and never send passwords, one-time codes or illegal sexual material. There is currently no screenshot upload in the report form. Reports are not an emergency service.

How we review and act

Reports are allegations, not findings. We assess available context, reliability, severity and patterns, including information that contradicts an allegation. Several accounts may repeat one source; report count alone does not establish wrongdoing. Screenshots may be incomplete or altered. Automated tools may help organise and flag information; a flag is not a finding and account sanctions require human review. Responses may include guidance, warnings, content removal, temporary restrictions or a ban. Serious risks may require immediate protective action without a prior warning. Temporary protective restrictions are distinct from confirmed violations and should have a review date. Lack of evidence does not establish that an incident did not happen.

Appeals and protection

Email tangled@tangledsocial.com with the subject Moderation Appeal, the account identifier, decision being appealed, and relevant context or corrections. We aim to explain the behaviour and rule at issue while protecting reporters and sensitive information, and use a different reviewer where feasible. Information is handled on a need-to-know basis, subject to legal and safety requirements; absolute anonymity cannot be guaranteed. Review time depends on the case and available information. Doxxing or harassment reports are assessed separately from any appeal or allegation against the person seeking help.

Policy changes

Material changes will be communicated through the Service or another reasonable channel with their effective date. New offences will not be applied retroactively to justify earlier decisions. Conduct already prohibited can still be assessed under the rules applicable at the time.
