This Privacy Policy explains what information Tangled collects, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.

1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, information collected automatically when you use Tangled, and information we receive from third parties you use to sign in.
Information you provide to us
This may include:
- account information, such as your email address and login details
- sign-in information from third-party login providers, such as Apple or Google
- profile information, such as your first name, last name, username, date of birth, city, pronouns, work, school, profile photo, and bio
- onboarding responses, interests, preferences, and profile or personality-related answers you submit in the app
- content you create, upload, or send, including posts, photos, messages, friend requests, and other interactions
- communications you send to us, including support requests and feedback
Location information
You may enter your city manually in the app. If you choose to use your current location, Tangled may access your device's location data to help fill in your city or general area. We use that information to support profile setup and related app features.
We do not intend to display precise GPS coordinates on your profile. In general, Tangled uses location information at the city or general-area level unless a feature clearly requires something more specific.
Information collected automatically
When you use Tangled, we may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including:
- device type, operating system, app version, language, and time zone
- log data, crash reports, diagnostics, and performance information
- approximate network information such as IP address
- push notification tokens and notification preference status
- information about how you use app features, including profile, matching, messaging, and posting flows
- session replay, error-monitoring, and feedback data where such tooling is enabled for debugging, reliability, and service improvement
2. How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- create and manage your account
- authenticate you and keep your account secure
- build and display your profile
- match you with people, groups, or experiences based on your interests and profile information
- enable posts, messages, chat features, and other social features
- send push notifications and service-related communications
- respond to support requests and communicate with you
- operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app
- detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, harassment, security incidents, and violations of our terms
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies
We may also use information you provide to support product features that generate suggested text, onboarding replies, or similar assistance, including features powered by third-party AI or automation providers.
3. When We Share Information
We may share information in the following circumstances:
With other users
Because Tangled is a social app, certain profile information and content you choose to share may be visible to other users. Depending on the feature, that may include your username, first name, profile photo, city, interests, bio, posts, and messages.
With service providers
We may share information with vendors and service providers that help us operate Tangled, such as providers for:
- authentication and account infrastructure
- cloud hosting, storage, and databases
- push notifications
- crash reporting, diagnostics, and monitoring
- maps, geocoding, or location-related services
- customer support tools
- AI or content-generation features
These providers may process information on our behalf and subject to their own legal obligations and service terms.
For legal, safety, and business reasons
We may disclose information if we believe doing so is necessary to:
- comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or government request
- enforce our agreements or policies
- protect the rights, property, or safety of Tangled, our users, or others
- investigate fraud, abuse, or security issues
We may also share or transfer information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, asset sale, or similar business transaction.
4. Your Choices
You may choose not to provide certain information, but some features may not work properly if you do not.
You may also:
- update certain profile information within the app
- disable location access through your device settings
- disable push notifications through your device settings
- stop using the app at any time
If Tangled does not yet provide an in-app account deletion flow, you may request deletion by emailing us at tangled@tangledsocial.com.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Tangled, maintain legitimate business records, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with legal obligations.
If you request deletion of your account, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify your personal information, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup, and compliance needs.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for using Tangled in a safe and responsible way.
7. International Users
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than the country where you live. By using Tangled, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your home jurisdiction.
8. Age Requirement
Tangled is intended only for users who are 16 years old or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has provided personal information to us, please contact us at tangled@tangledsocial.com and we will review the request.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws, such as the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to or limit certain processing.

10. Third-Party Services and Links
Tangled may contain links to third-party sites, services, or sign-in providers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before using their services.
11. Do We Sell Personal Information?
Tangled does not currently sell your personal information to third parties.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and may provide additional notice where appropriate.
